During this year’s European Night of Museums Galeria M presents paintings and drawings by Katarzyna Kukuła titled Lovers. It is the newest cycle of works by the artist originating from Kolonia Cieśle, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. She completed her studies in the Faculty of Painting in 2012, with her diploma under the guidance of professor Leszek Misiak. The cycle Land of milk and honey received the Grand Prix of the Rector of the Academy in competition for the best diploma of 2012. Katarzyna Kukuła explores themes of gender, sexuality and existance, she is interested by corporeality, proximity to nature, eroticism, spirituality and affirmation of life. The artists paints, draws, works with textiles and animated film. She lives and works in Kraków, Poland. 

Painting for me is a great mystery. A journey into yourself. Complete freedom and lack of boundaries. During the process of painting I become one with the vision I am pouring onto the canvas. I forget myself. I burn myself. Everything becomes possible – Katarzyna Kukuła
