Mirek Antoniewicz is an artist who has been involved with our gallery since its very beginning in 1997. ‘Habitat’ is Mirek’s twelfth solo exhibition within our walls and an opportunity to see his latest paintings.

The titular habitat is not only a place to live, but also a space of everyday activities which shape our reality. The series of paintings to be presented by Mirek is a free stream of events, experiences and memories, creating a multi-threaded story with no linear plot. In this multiplicity of events, childhood toys, the books read and the images remembered, as well as encounters with people, turn out to be equally important.

Central to these works is always an awareness of humankind’s fragility. The works depict the world as seen through the eyes of the painter, full of contrasts of light and shadow, ups and downs, small joys and everyday struggles. ‘Habitat’ is a painterly attempt to capture and narrate his own existence.

We invite you to the opening of the exhibition and a meeting with Mirek on Friday 20 September 2024 at 7 pm.

The exhibition will be open from 20.09 – 5.10.2024.
