Katarzyna Kukuła lands two distinctions at Bielska Jesień!

We are very happy to announce that our artist Katarzyna Kukuła has landed not one, but two distinctions at this years’ Painting Biennale Bielska Jesień.

Katarzyna has gotten the honorary distinction and the distinction of the Artistic Magazine FORMAT.

The feminizing and bravely exposing the body, Katarzyna Kukuła seems to be fascinated by the life-giving aspect of femininity. It combines act with vegetation, wrapping the body like an ornament or even growing out of a reclined woman, creating a colourful fragment of the landscape. The body of a woman experiencing pleasure is placed in the cosmos, identifying her physical survival with astral processes. The multicoloured, freely painted images seem to be the affirmation of life, they evoke hippie counter-culture connotations, but they also have the stamina of gender activists fighting for the full rights of women or sexual minorities. – Agata Smalcerz, art historian, critic, curator of exhibitions, director of BWA Gallery in Bielsko-Bielsk.

Katarzyna submitted three entries to the competition: Paintress, The Big Bang II and Pleasure.
