Painting

It was dancing that gave me an impulse to paint the human figure. I once watched “White Nights” with Mikhail Barysznikov, who danced to the music of Wysocki in a way that I made me watch the film five times. I thought that I would like to participate with him in what was going on there. The next day I started to paint in the studio, looking for the expression of the body that Barysznikow conveyed in his dance. Today I am fascinated by Sergei Polunin, and dance and movement are invariably present in my painting. The silhouette of a woman in my paintings is a person who carries all the problems of the world. Because in my paintings there are a lot of stories and content, and I hope it is noticeable.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the exhibition of paintings by Danka Jaworska. Born in Warsaw, Poland. Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris, France, at Deutsche Akademische Austausch Dienst (DAAD) in Worpswede, Germany. Internship in the Screenprinting Laboratory at The Retigraphic Society in Ightham, UK. Since 1976 lives and works in Stockholm. Painter and graphic artist. Her works can be found in public and private collections: SAS/LIN Art Collection, Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, National Museum in Poznań, Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Tetra-Pac USA, National Museum in Kraków, International Portrait Gallery in Toulouse.

The opening of the exhibition will take place in Galeria M Odwach, on Friday, 2 August, at 7 pm.

The exhibition will be open from 24.08 – 8.09.2018.
