Wiesław Szamocki (1956)

Studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Diploma in graphic art in1980. He makes prints, drawings and posters. His works were presented at solo exhibitions in Toruń, Warsaw, Gdynia, Jelenia Góra, Szczecin, Wrocław, Brussels and Strasbourg. He has won many awards and distinctions, including the Grand Prix and the First Prize of the Minister of Culture and Art at the 7th Quadrennial of Polish Woodcut and Linocut in Olsztyn; Medal of the Biennale of Graphic Small Forms, BWA Łódź; First Prize and Prize of the Young at the Józef Gielniak National Graphic Competition in Jelenia Góra. From 1995 to 2012 he had won several prizes in the Warsaw Print of the Month and Print of the Year competition. His works can be found in the collections of the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Szczecin, the National Library in Warsaw.
