Ignacy Nowodworski’s latest project ECHO explores the artist’s memories and the crumbs of the past – missed and found, those that one would like to keep and those that one would like to let go. ECHO returns to the relations established and experienced on the way of life, the ones that shape us, and the others that cause unexpected changes. It touches the moments and places to which we return and which sometimes come back to us. The artist evokes the ECHO of his fascination with texture, cracks and wood patterns, surfaces changed by time, from the time of his childhood spent in The Tuchola Forest.
Ignacy Nowodworski (1980) – honor graduate of the Institute of Art at the University of Opole (2005). Currently he works as an assistant professor in the Sculpture Studio of the Faculty of Art at his alma mater. He received his doctoral degree at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw in 2018. In his work he uses marble, granite, wood, metal and found objects. Mutual contrasts of materials and their structures are characteristic in his sculptures.
His works can be found in the “Zachęta” collection and private collections in Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA. He is the author of the MECENAS statuette of the Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole, the OPOLSKIE LAMY statuette of the National Independent Film Festival and the BRIDGE OF DIALOGUE statuette of the plebiscite promoting multiculturalism of the Opole Province.
