We are pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition of works by Elżbieta Janczak-Wałaszek, a well-known Wrocław-based artist, graduate of the Faculty of Glass and Ceramics of the Wrocław Academy of Art and Design. Elżbieta is interested in the design of ceramics, installation and sculpture.
In the exhibition, I present images of selected animals, to whom more meanings are assigned then we would know from their name and appearance. In addition to symbols, animals play another very important role: they help us to accept our everyday madness by pulling us out of consumerism and saving us from depression.
Similar dependencies can be observed in the family or among friends, which is why I placed ceramic images of my daughters’ heads in the exhibition. Behind the ephemeral facade of sculptural images of two young women, there are traces of common experiences and overlapping stories. These two people, very close to me, have been building up our relationships for a long time, which not always easy.
“Spółka ZOO” is a reminiscences of past events, a “stream of consciousness” which is the engine of this exhibition – an association of animals and people in the world connected by a common history, a story that smells like rain carrying refreshment. Elżbieta Janczak-Wałaszek

The opening will take place on Friday, 1 December 2017 at 19:00.
